NEW TSHIRT POLICY - TSHIRTS NOT INCLUDED IN ENTRY

We have instituted a new tshirt policy for 2026.

Tshirts are not automatically included with your entry. You must purchase them separately from your entry fee. We recognize everybody does not want a shirt and if we can reduce the entry fee for those that do not want one we will do so.

Inflation is killing us, like it is affecting everybody. Nevertheless, if you choose not to purchase a shirt (not everybody wants one), your entry fee will be less than 2025. If you do not want a shirt then you do not have to pay for one.

Purchased shirts will be high quality long sleeve shirts. If you purchase a shirt we guarantee the size you ordered, even if we have to send it to you after the race.

Shirts must be ordered prior to May1, 2026 as we have to order shirts early. If this date varies then we let you know accordingly.

PACKET PICK UP/REGISTRATION

Registration and packet pick up: 5-8pm on May 29 and 5:00am - 6am on race day.

New registration is available on May 29. No new registration on race day.

There is no formal packet pick up. All race materials will be at your assigned bike space when you arrive at the Transition Area.

When you come to the transition area to pick up your packet you must check in first. This is true whether you come on Friday (strongly recommended) or Race Day. Please have ID ready and, if a USAT annual member, your USAT card.

Your packet will be at your assigned bike rack.

YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PICK UP YOUR PACKET ON MAY 29 UNLESS YOU RACK YOUR BIKE.

Most participants have signed the USAT waiver as part of the registration process or as included in your USAT annual membership. If you have not signed the waiver, you will be asked to do so prior to entry into the transition area.

There will be overnight security at the transition area.

All athlete materials (numbers, chips, tshirt) will be at assigned spots in the transition area on Friday, May 30. Show your ID and USAT card (if annual member) when checking in with your bike and you will be allowed access to the transition area to get your packet and to check in your bike.

It is strongly encouraged to bring your bike on Friday May 29. There is NO packet pick up on Friday unless you bring and rack your bike.

Race day will follow the same procedure.. Bring your ID and USAT card (if an annual member) to get access to the transition area. Athlete materials will be at your assigned rack. Again, we strongly recommend you check in on May 29.

Your chip will be with the athlete materials at your assigned spot. Please wear your chip on your left ankle during the race

All relay members must come to the transition area on May 29 or May 30 to be checked in. Once all three relay members have checked in then the relay will be allowed into the transition area. We cannot release the race number for the relay until all relay members have personally checked in.

Timing chips will be in your packet materials.. Please make sure your chip number matches your bib number both when you pick it up and when you put it on your left ankle.

Chips must be worn on the left ankle on race day. If you forgot or lost your chip (that you picked up the night before) then ask for a replacement at the finish line ($10 charge).

If you lose your chip during the race please let us know when you cross the finish line so we can hand enter your time.

Chips are to be returned at the finish line. If, for some reason, you do not finish, please return your chip to the finish line.

If you are an annual member of USA Triathlon, then you must bring your annual membership card and photo ID to the transition area on May 30 or May 31. Per USAT, we cannot make exceptions to this rule. Please do not ask us to do so.

If you have entered a collegiate division then you must bring your collegiate ID.

If you are not an annual member,  USAT charges a one day fee and requires you to sign a waiver. This fee is paid as part of your registration process. If you signed up via active.com then you will have signed the waiver online. If you mailed the entry in then you will need to sign a waiver at registration.

Bike Drop off AND TRANSITION AREA PROTOCOL

In the past we have been able to provide athletes with a free beer after the race. Unfortunately due to a change of ownership of the Park, we were not able to obtain alcohol permits or insurance for the site. Beer is available at the Pines Bar (Over 21 only and cannot be brought to the park) and at the Pines Market.

SHOUT OUT TO MILLER’S LANDING!

Miller’s Landing, a premier resort on Bass Lake, is sponsoring our swim and providing Lifeguards. we are deeply indebted to Miller’s Landing for helping us out and for helping make our event safer.

Miller’s Landing is about 6 miles from the transition area and offers cabins and rooms in the finest tradition of Bass Lake. Additionally, Miller’s Landing serves awesome food, especially famous for their breakfast burritos and burgers. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Miller’s Landing also rents boats and jet skis if you feel like a little fun after the race.

Please help support Miller’s Landing as they have generously supported the triathlon for years.

2026 swim and swim start procedure

Wetsuits will be allowed, water temperature is expected to be in the upper 60s.

Waves will start every 2 minutes. You must start in your assigned wave.

We will be staging and finishing on the beach in front of the pool at the Pines Resort. If Bass Lake has covered the beach then our swim start will be altered accordingly. Assembly will be on the deck underneath Ducey’s Restaurant. Wave 1 will start in the water, knee deep (we will not start unless everybody is lined up). As soon as Wave 1 goes off, Wave 2 enters the water and goes to the start line. When they start, Wave 3 enters the water, etc…..

PLEASE NOTE: The entry and exit to the lake is through a small set of stairs. Athletes will be exiting the water as waves are staging for their start. Please be respectful, both when finishing and starting your swim. Remember, competing athletes have the right of way.

7am Oly swim start
7:25am Sprint Swim Start
7:25am - Duathlon start at the finish line

Wave start times will be posted when the videos are posted.

We start with the Olympic race at 7:00am. Each wave will be approximately 30-40 people.

You must start in your assigned wave. If not, you will not get an accurate time.

The athletes about to start will be in the water knee deep. The start will be a whistle from the announcer.

BIKE COURSE

The Olympic bike course is 1 lap around Bass Lake. Intersections and turns will be monitored by CHP, volunteers and signs with black arrows on a yellow background.

No aid stations on the bike.

The sprint bike course is approximately 6 miles out and return.

Oly athletes go through the sprint turnaround and complete their lap around the lake. Sprint athletes turnaround.

We start the oly race first and then follow it up with the sprint race. That means that that fast sprint athletes might be at the turnaround before the last oly athletes are through. Please check the course maps page for maps and details about how the turnaround works.

Above all, all athletes should SLOW down and be safe at the sprint bike turnaround

RUN COURSE

Sprint - 1 lap of the run course.
Oly - two laps of the bike course with the turnaround at the aid station closest to the finish line.
Duathlon - 1 lap of the bike course, sprint bike course, 1 lap of the bike course

Aid stations on the run are at the start of the run, the midpoint of the run and the far turnaround of the run. That means that the sprint course has 4 aid stations and the oly has 8 aid stations.
